Haven't done much in a while, but a pic of the new Superman (Henry Cavill) was released, so of COURSE I was gonna have to sculpt that. ;)

The expression I'm going for is a bit less... angry though. And it's still way early, so I know the likeness has a ways to go.

Update on Kirk and Spock

Made a few modifications. Among other things, I narrowed the nose on Kirk a bit, and made the nose and jawline a bit sharper and more defined on Spock.

And just for the heck of it, here's my various attempts at Kirk through the years (some of these are looking pretty scary). lol

Well here's my latest, umpteenth attempt at doing some Kirk and Spock sculpts. I'm sure the likenesses aren't quite there yet, but hopefully I'm slowly getting closer. (I should have it totally figured out in about 10 years or so. lol)

Reading Girl

Been awhile, but I finally found time for another sculpt. This is a christmas gift for a friend. She saw a little statue like this in Paris a while back, and asked if I could make her one.

This was thrown together in only a week and a half, so the proportions and anatomy may not be the best.

And here's a photo of the souvenir. I tried to copy that greenish oxidation effect as best I could.

ESB Han Solo

Here's a headsculpt of Han Solo I finished for a 12 inch figure of mine. As all SW collectors know, the head the ESB Han came with was ridiculously oversized, so I figured I would try sculpting a smaller one of my own instead.

It's my first attempt at the character, so I'm sure I'll have to revisit it at some point and make improvements.

Another Supergirl

Here's my latest attempt at a Supergirl, in her classic costume. It turned out a little more cartoony than I wanted, but I'm still pretty happy with it in the end.

It stands at about 8 1/2" tall.

Here's another one I just finished up. I decided to do it in regular clay as just a quick figure sketch, but that ended up being a giant mistake as I started getting huge, giant cracks everywhere.

I was able to salvage it somewhat though, and thankfully the bronze hides a lot of mistakes. lol

It's about 8 1/2 inches tall.

Well here's the finished and painted sculpt. I think it turned out fairly well, but as always I see stuff I should have done a little differently...

As for the skin tone, I originally tried painting him as pale as he should be, but it just didn't translate very well to sculpt form. I might give it another shot later.

Well even though I already got a zillion other things to finish, I went ahead and started a new Reeve sculpt. I was never happy with my previous attempts, and wanted to see if I could improve on them.

Still got a ways to go of course (the mouth needs to be a bit wider for one thing)...

Return of Quinto Spock

Well now that the movie's come out, and I have a better idea what he looks like, I decided to revisit my bust of Zachary Quinto's Spock. It's still a work in progress obviously...

Just for comparison's sake, on the left is the original sculpt (complete with GIANT eyebrow, lol), and on the right the newer, more accurate version.

First is my bust of Old Spock (who according to the movie is now called "Spock Prime"). I'm pretty happy with out it turned out, although I probably could have been a bit more subtle with the wrinkles...

Here's an Indiana Jones bust I just finished, and painted in bronze. Since everyone else always sculpts him with a wry grin, I decided to go for more of a serious and determined expression (based on this shot from Temple of Doom):

It didn't quite turn out as good as I wanted, but oh well. I'm sure I'll try another Ford likeness someday.

And here's the final one I built, of the Star Trek II bridge. It's to the same scale as the previous ones, and obviously still needs some final details added (a couple more chairs, the silver fire extinguishers, etc). But I doubt I'll ever get to it.

Please excuse the little Kirk sculpt. That was my first attempt at sculpting a miniature figure and I clearly suck at it.

BTTF3 Delorean

Here's a custom model I put together awhile back of the Delorean from Back to the Future 3. It's always been my favorite incarnation of the car, I guess because of the crazy juxtaposition of elements, but I wasn't really happy with the bare-bones kit and decided to accurize it a bit.

I lifted the car up, put in real wiring, added more detail to the box on the hood, added a little hoverboard inside, and dusted it up.

And here's the TNG bridge I made. Unlike the Cage one, which was just a heavily modified model kit, this one was made completely from scratch with lots of carefully cut and shaped styrene plastic.

I wanted to add a rim around the top to finish it, but never got around to it.

Figured I would finally put these on my blog. This is a custom model I built of the Enterprise bridge as it appeared in the pilot episode. I was going through a scratchbuilding phase and thought it would be fun to modify the existing kit into this older version.

As you can see, I didn't really feel like building the whole thing though...
